CHED oks 9 colleges to hike tuition, other fees
NINE Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in Pangasinan have been given the green light by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to increase tuition and miscellaneous fees this school year.
Those granted the authority to increase their fees are Colegio San Jose de Alaminos, Divine World College in Urdaneta City, Luna Colleges in Tayug, Agno Valley College in Malasiqui, Northern Luzon Adventist College in Sison, Our Lady of Manaoag College, Pangasinan Merchant Marine Academy in Dagupan City, San Carlos College and University of Pangasinan in Dagupan.
Perpetual Help College in Malasiqui withdrew its earlier application to increase fees.
Dr. Caridad Abuan, CHED regional director, said the HEIs were authorized to increase their tuition fees by about 33 percent.
Abuan, speaking during the ‘Media in Action’ forum of the Pangasinan Press Club (PPC) on Wednesday, said these institutions were able to justify their applications for an increase.
The colleges are required to post the acknowledgement letter for an increase from CHED for the information of students and parents.
The approved tuition and miscellaneous fee increases are intended to pay for the increase in salaries of teachers and non-teaching personnel, including improvement of facilities of the HEIs.—LM
