LNU holds tennis clinic, tourney

YOUNG tennis enthusiasts participated in the recent week-long tennis clinic-workshop and two-day age-group tournament organized by the Lyceum Northwestern University Tennis Club, with the support of Milo energy drink.

Club president Peter Lim said 25 boys and girls aged 10 to 15 years old enlisted in the tennis workshop while 35 young tennis buffs from Dagupan City, Urdaneta City, Lingayen, Bayambang, and Sta. Barbara competed in the tournament.

In the main event of the tennis matches, 13 year-old Josh Ezra Relatores from Sta. Barbara emerged as champion in two age-group categories: 18 years old and under and 14 years old and under.

Relatores beat Eric Campos of Lingayen in a tie break while Bjorn Pinto, also of Lingayen, placed third.

In the 14 years old and under, Kyle Villanueva of Dagupan City and Ralph Gualberto of Urdaneta City, placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

First and second placers in the other categories of the tourney were: 10 years old and under (unisex) – Jose Brian Oliveros and Pocholo Taguiang; 12 years old and under (boys) – Ralph Gualberto and Pocholo Taguiang; 14 years old and under (girls) – Ina Wee and Denice Wee; beginners (boys) – Christopher Cuison and Howard Catinec; beginners (girls) – Maria Cristina dela Cruz and Kezian Nicole Relatores; advance (boys) – Bill Villanueva and Jesse Dennis Carreon.

Relatores was named ‘most outstanding player” while Roby Rollen Ferrer was ‘most promising player’.
