Lim may veto ordinance

THE new P10 minimum fare set by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) for tricycles in Dagupan City does not sit well with Mayor Benjamin Lim who wants a P10 rate for the first three kilometers, not two kilometers.

In a press release issued by the City Information Office, Lim reportedly urged the Federation of Accredited Tricycle Organizations in Dagupan City (FATODAG) to reconsider its request.

FATODAG initially proposed a P20 rate for the first two kilometers.

Lim also questioned the SP’s process whether it conducted a public hearing, specifically whether the commuters was consulted on the issue.

Lim pointed out that the increase effected by the SP from P7 to P10 was equivalent to a 43 percent hike.–LM
