SECOND District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil and his daughter, Angela, have sought further medical check-up and treatment at a private hospital in Manila following their recent vehicular accident which took place along the main highway in Bugallon.

The two, who have already been declared out of danger, were reported to have been injured on the legs when their van was collided with a speeding Dagupan Bus in the opposite lane in the early morning of May 5.

Bataoil’s driver, Ruben Escobar, remained at the intensive care unit of the Villaflor General Hospital in Dagupan where they were all rushed after the accident, because of far more serious injuries.

Police officer Jim Evangelista, Bataoil’s security escort, is out of danger but remained confined at the Villaflor Hospital.

The driver of the Dagupan Bus, Bemmy Cainap of Bagong Silang, Quezon City, is now out of jail after posting bail.

The accident occurred while Bataoil and his group were returning home to Lingayen from Aguilar where the congressman was the guest speaker in a barangay fiesta.

The van was a complete wreck.

A report of the Bugallon police showed that the Dagupan Bus avoided a motorcyclist after overtaking another vehicle, but hit the van Bataoil and company were riding instead in the process.—LM
