2nd Gali-langoy Eco-Adventure Race set in September
ALAMINOS City—The Gali-langoy Eco-Adventure Race organized by the local government here as the highlight of its Pista’y Dayat celebration last May 1 will not be the last.
This assurance was made by City Mayor Hernani Braganza after the participants and spectators hailed the success of the unique sports marathon format.
“Part 2 (of the race) is now in the works. I’m now talking with the members of the Sangguniang Bayan for the 2nd Gali-langoy in September, making it as the major highlight of this year’s anniversary of the HINP Turnover to the city,” the mayor said.
The first Gali-langoy, which means “come” (galila) and “swim” (langoy), was a triathlon featuring island-to-island swimming, parao (sailboat) racing, and kayak racing at the Hundred Islands National Park (HINP).
The sports event was intended to promote aqua-sports and the city’s environmental protection thrusts at the HINP.
“While tourism further thrives in our city brought about by this new sports event in our great Hundred Islands, we believe we have also contributed in protecting our environment by promoting the use of kayaks and paraos which do not use fuel,” said City Mayor Hernani Braganza.
