THE Department of Labor and Employment Region 1 office (DOLE-1) has awarded livelihood assistance to marginalized farmers in the remote barangay of Fulgosino in Umingan for the setting up of a commercial egg production and processing project.

The P250,000 funding assistance was received last week by Barangay Chairman Ramil Partida, the accredited co-partner of the New Guardians for Freedom and Democracy (NGI)-Fulgosino Chapter, a group formed by the farmers.

Partida thanked DOLE for helping with the project which is envisioned to create employment in the barangay.

He also urged NGI members to cooperate in managing the project.

The barangay unit of Fulgosino will shoulder the cost of the construction of the poultry housing estimated at P112,400.

DOLE-1 Director Henry John Jalbuena said the project is part of the Aquino administration’s program to create community-based employment opportunities to help address poverty. (DOLE/PIA Pangasinan/DOS)
