PENRO ties up with Jollibee for environmental campaign
THE Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) recently signed a partnership with the Lucao, Dagupan City branch of fastfood chain Jollibee for a campaign to raise environmental awareness in the city.
Others that will help in the project are the Pangasinan Coast Lions Club and Spectrum.
The campaign, dubbed “Beesekleta”, will kick off on April 16 with an open bicycle race. Succeeding activities include lectures on environmental awareness and tree planting in every school in Dagupan.
After the signing of the memorandum of agreement for the project last week, 20, 000 used plastic cups were handed over to the PENRO, which will be used for growing seedlings.
PENRO head Leduina Co said the project is a manifestation of the private sector’s commitment to help the government in environmental protection initiatives.
The project is in support of Executive Order No. 23 and 26 series of 2011 which mandates the implementation of a National Greening Program and calls for volunteerism and greater private sector participation. (PIA/Pangasinan)
