Larong Pinoy to bring unforgettable excitement to beachgoers
LINGAYEN—“Larong Pinoy sa Tabing Dagat”, featuring Pangasinan’s indigenous games and other Filipino games, will be one of the most exciting activities lined up for this year’s celebration of Pistay Dayat.
Set on April 30 at the Capitol beachfront, the activity aims to build camaraderie among the participants and serve as an avenue for creating stronger bond among kiths and kin as well as ignite love of Filipino culture among Pangasinenses.
Engr. Alvin Bigay, Provincial Housing Urban Regulation and Development Council Officer and beach games committee chair, said that beachgoers between ages 7 to 45 may participate upon on-site registration before the conduct of the various games which will be held at 3 o’clock to 5 o’clock in the afternoon.
“Pwede pong magpalista ang mga participants before 3 o’clock in the afternoon sa mismong site sa may beach area on April 30 depende sa tatlong age groupings,” Bigay said.
The three age groupings are as follows: children’s games for ages 7 to 12; young adult games for ages 13 to 24; and adult games for ages 25 to 45.
Games to be played are categorized into two, the beach games and Filipino traditional games.
This will include games like fill-a-bucket relay race, water balloon toss, blowing the paper, push-the-ball, shell balancing relay, sack race, tug-of-war (culliot), and going-to-the-beach relay.
Filipino traditional games, on the other hand, include the following: patintero, tumbang preso, luksong baka, sipa, dinoron, baldo (luksong lubid), paluan ng palayok, basagan ng itlog, tupa, dinagi and kadang-kadang.
Big cash prizes await the winners for both individual and group categories while consolation prizes will be given to all game participants.
“Aside from bringing childhood memories among adult participants, these Pinoy games will surely inspire the young players to appreciate the games of their parents and grandparents,” Bigay said. (PIO/Ruby R. Bernardino)
