It’s Pista’y Dayat time again

LINGAYEN–It’s all systems go for this year’s celebration of Pistay Dayat.

With various activities lined up from April 23 to May 2 to highlight Pangasinan’s “mother of all festivals,” this year’s sea festival theme, “Luyag Ko, Dayew Ko,” focuses on environmental and sports development as well as rediscovering the culture and arts of Pangasinenses.

Around 100 colorful boats will be adorned on May 1 for the Banca Parada (fluvial parade) to showcase the clean rivers of Pangasinan.

The event will also be highlighted by the Pakar Awards, given to coastal towns and barangays with the cleanest rivers.

The Larong Pinoy, set on the afternoon of April 30 at the Capitol beach area, will feature various Filipino traditional games like patintero, tumbang preso, luksong baka, sipa, dinoron, baldo, paluan ng palayok, basagan ng itlog, tupa and dinagi.

Konsyerto sa Gulpo eliminations kicks off April 23 featuring the musical talents of Pangasinan youth. Chaired by Col. Paterno Orduna, the band competition will center on environmental songs intended to heighten the awareness of Pangasinenses regarding the importance of nature.

Another traditional activity is the Tourism and Trade Expo which will formally open on April 25 and will run until May 2 to be set up near the newly-inaugurated Pangasinan Training and Development Center located at the back of the Land Registry Office within the Capitol compound. Pangasinan’s various One- Town- One- Product (OTOP) industries of participating towns will be showcased.

Lovely and talented maidens take center-stage on April 27 as they outshine each other in Limgas na Pangasinan Talent Competition to be held at the Capitol Plaza while the loveliest of them all will be crowned on the night of April 30.

Sports enthusiasts will have a chance to watch a boxing competition right at the Capitol beachfront on April 28 along with the cycling competition and beach volleyball to be held on May 1.

Talented Pangasinenses will compete in Takayan na Dayew on April 28, a singing competition.

ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya stars and hosts of Happy Yipee Yehey gameshow like Randy Santiago, John Estrada, Toni Gonzaga and Mariel Rodriguez will hold a motorcade in the afternoon of April 29 that will simultaneously be held with the opening of the three-day Doypuay Kalangweran 2011 (youth camp).

The Happy Yipee Yehey gameshow reels off on April 30, 8 o’clock in the morning at the beachfront. The show will be aired via delayed telecast noontime on the same day.

Sayawan ed Aplaya (Street Dancing) will add zest and excitement to the affair in the afternoon of May 1 culminated by the grand finals of Konsyerto sa Gulpo in the evening with famous bands like Cueshe and Drivers band as special guest performers.

Beach crowds will be entertained via a Kapuso Night sa Pistay Dayat show featuring Rhian Ramos and other big stars of GMA TV Network also on May 1.
