FIELD men of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have been ordered to provide a weekly report for the public on the progress of projects and their accomplishments.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, who issued the order, said this improved information dissemination scheme is intended to improve transparency in the department, considered as one of the most corrupt agencies in government.

The regional directors and district engineers were told to highlight the status of big-ticket projects, efforts against graft and corruption, conduct of biddings in the central office and regional offices and the corresponding results.

The secretary directed his subordinates to submit weekly releases, news and photos, to the regional and provincial offices of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), with copies furnished to the Public Information Division of the department.

Pangasinan has three engineering districts based in Rosales, Lingayen and Alaminos City and a sub-district based in Sta. Barbara town. (DOS/PIA Pangasinan)
