DDB’s Villar: Make Pangasinan drug-free

LINGAYEN–The chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) has called on Pangasinenses to help the government in its intensified campaign against illegal drugs by working towards a drug-free Pangasinan.

DDB Chairman Antonio Villar Jr., speaking during the 431st founding anniversary of Pangasinan on April 5, rallied authorities to guard local ports as the Philippines, given its strategic location, is now becoming the trans-shipment point of illegal drugs in Asia.

Villar said local help is crucial as he lamented that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) does not have a single boat to patrol the country’s long coastline.

Villar also said the government is doing everything possible to stop a foreign-based syndicate from West Africa from using Filipinos as drug mules.

At the same time, Villar proposed that illegal drug users undergo rehabilitation in rehabilitation centers.
