THE CSI La Union in San Fernando City, the biggest shopping mall in the province, whose appliance and furniture departments caught fire last April 15, is set to resume operations soon.

This assurance was made by Dagupan City Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, president of the CSI Group of Companies that operate malls in Pangasinan, La Union and Ilocos Sur.

Fernandez said CSI La Union temporarily stopped operations until clearing operations have been completed and structural fitness of the mall is confirmed.

Two sections of the mall were razed with damages estimated to run to several millions of pesos, according to Fernandez.

Fernandez said she is glad there was no casualty in the fire and that they are intent on re-opening at the soonest possible time to minimize the impact on employees’ income.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire on the five-year old building.
