LINGAYEN–Athletes from Pangasinan I and Pangasinan II divisions have so far maintained their 1-2 lead, but defending champion Ilocos Norte is now closing in with only one day left in the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet here.

As of press time, Pangasinan I is on top with 338 points by leading in the secondary division and earning 151 points in the elementary division.

Host Pangasinan II was in second place with 323.5 points after amassing178.5 points in the elementary division and 145 points in the secondary division.

Just 26 points behind Pangasinan II and 40.5 behind the leader Pangasinan I is Ilocos Norte which dislodged La Union from third place at 297.5 points after earning 169.5 points in the secondary division and 128 points in the elementary division.

Ilocos Norte has been the annual sporting event’s champion for the past 11 years

La Union is now in fourth place with 216.25 points while Laoag City remained in fifth place at 140.25 points, followed by San Carlos City in sixth place with 87.25points, Alaminos City is seventh with 84.25 points, Urdaneta City is eighth at 81.25 points, and Dagupan City, ninth with 71 points.

In 10th place is San Fernando City, followed by Candon City, Ilocos Sur, Batac City, and Vigan City.–LM
