Pangasinan all set for IRAA 2011

LINGAYEN–It’s all systems go for the province’s hosting of the 2011 Ilocos Region Athletic Association (IRAA) meet set on March 14 to 19 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center gymnasium (NRSCC) here.

Modesto Operania, sports coordinator, said preparations for the games venue are ongoing and Pangasinan’s athletes have also been pepped up.

“Not only did Governor Amado Espino Jr. provide the venue for the athletes but he also supported their physical and mental preparations as well,” Operania said.

He added that the Pangasinan contingents were recently sent to Nueva Ecija for tune up games as part of their intensive training in the fields of athletics, swimming, chess, and volleyball among others.

Pangasinan aims to dethrone Ilocos Norte, the region’s defending champion for the last 11 years.

The Pangasinan II and Pangasinan I contingents have consistently been landing in the 1st runner-up and 3rd or 4th slots, respectively.

The IRAA meet will be participated in by 14 divisions coming from Region 1. (PIO)
