P.5M reward for info on Arcinues’ shooting
BINMALEY–A P500,000 reward has been put on offer to anyone who can provide the police information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the two suspects who shot and wounded a former vice mayor of Lingayen and his wife, currently a barangay chair, along the highway in Barangay Biec here last March 4.
Superintendent Geraldo Roxas, information officer of the police provincial office, said of the amount, P200,000 was pledged by Governor Amado Espino Jr. and P300,000 by the family of the wounded victims, former Lingayen Vice Mayor Ramon Arcinue, and his wife Zorayda, barangay chair of Poblacion Sur.
The Arcinue couple were on board their car bound for Lingayen from Dagupan, when unidentified men riding in tandem on a motorcycle without a plate number overtook them and opened fire on them using a Cal. 45 pistol.
The Arcinues were both wounded in the stomach and were rushed to the Villaflor Memorial Doctors Hospital by a concerned truck driver who was passing by.
The driver, whose name was withheld by the police for his security as a witness, moved the wounded couple to the back of their car and drove them to the hospital in Dagupan City.
Roxas said the couple, who are also prominent business owners in Lingayen and Dagupan, are now recovering and had already given their statement to police investigators.
The motive of the attempted murder has yet to be determined by the police but politics is one angle that is being looked into.
A special investigation task group was organized by Police Provincial Director Rosueto Ricaforte for the case. –LM
