THE National Food Authority (NFA) is launching the “I-Rice Program” (Iron Fortified Rice) aimed at promoting improved health.

The launch will be nationwide and for Pangasinan, it will be on March 15 at the West Central Elementary School.

I-Rice is white-milled rice mixed with iron premix (I-Mix) processed through fortification, with a ratio of four to five grams of I-Mix to one kilo of rice.

NFA-western Pangasinan provincial manager Ramon Cuaresma said one of the specific objectives of the program is to help lower cases of anemia, which is still considered as one of the major nutritional problems in the country.

I-Rice will be available in NFA-accredited retail outlets after the launch.(PIA)
