Dagupan fisherfolk receive bangus fingerlings

MORE than 200 fish farmers in Dagupan received bangus fingerlings last week through the city government from the Food and Agriculture Organization funded by the Belgium government.

City Agriculturist Emma Molina said fisherfolk who were victims of Typhoon Pepeng last year and owners of fishponds measuring one hectare and below were given priority as recipients since “they do not have the capacity to bounce back immediately.”

Molina expressed hope there will be more distributions in the coming months to alleviate the damages on agriculture brought by Typhoon Pepeng estimated at about P478 million.

“We received response from only one funder. We hope more funders would come,” she said. (PIA-Pangasinan)
