THE University of Luzon (UL), formerly known as Luzon Colleges, gathered some of its distinguished alumni to inspire students to follow in their respective stories of success.

Dubbed as “Success Forum: Sharing the Secrets of the Luzonian Brand of Excellence,” more than a thousand students listened to the success story of keynote speaker Gov. Amado Espino, Jr. who spent one year and a half in the school 44 years ago.

He was hailed as the ‘Luzonian Transformational Public Servant’ having contributed significantly to improvements in infrastructure in the province, which in turn translated to improved public service.

“My very presence today is enough evidence that I am grateful to this learning institution. Let us give thanks to the pioneers of education, teachers who persevered to uplift education and pave tremendous opportunities and advancement for our people,” Espino said

Espino also shared his formula for success: to dream because “libre mangarap” and to have the passion to turn the dream into reality, hone skills and have good education.

He also told his listeners to maintain good values and develop integrity because “even if you are the best, if your ways are crooked, your success will be temporary.”

Other former students who shared their secrets of success were Dagupan City Vice Mayor Belen, also chief executive officer of her family-owned CSI Group of Companies; Dr. Leah Solmerin- Corpuz, a faculty member of the graduate school of the University of the Cordilleras; and Mario Panoringan, the co-founder and former president of the Fil-Am Star News in San Francisco, USA.

The success forum is a prelude to the university’s celebration of its 63rd founding anniversary. (PIA-Pangasinan)
