THE daughter of Senator Leticia Ramos Shahani has been appointed by President Benigno Aquino III as one of the two new assistant secretaries in the Office of the President.

The appointment of Lila Shahani, the younger sister of 6th District Board Member Ranjit Ramos Shahani, was contained in a letter of the President dated January 21, 2011.

Shahani holds a Masters Degree in International Relations/Political Science from The Fletcher School of Laws and Diplomacy, Tufts University (in collaboration with Harvard University) in Massachusetts, USA.

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature from the Brown University, Rhode Island, USA and is currently a PhD candidate in English Language and Literature at Oxford University in England with her thesis entitled “Comparative Migrations: Asian Writers in the English-Speaking World”.
