Local cyclists eye Panagbenga Extreme Cycling Challenge
AMATEUR and former professional cyclists in Pangasinan are looking forward to compete in the Panagbenga Downhill-Uphill Extreme Cycling Challenge scheduled on February 25 as part of Baguio City’s celebration of its annual Panagbenga Flower Festival.
The race will start and end at the Burnham Park, traversing a distance of about 89 kilometers from the city down to Marcos Highway along Pogo and Rosario in La Union then back up through Kennon Road.
“We are holding this bikathon as one of our modest contributions in developing our young people in the field sports and physical fitness, particularly cycling,” said Angel dela Merced, the event chief organizer.
This year’s champion and 1st to 4th runner-ups will receive trophies and cash prizes of P10,000, P7,000, P 5,000, P 3,000, and P 2,000, respectively.
The sixth to tenth placers will receive trophies and gift packages from the race sponsors, including Omega Pain Killer Pro and Casino Alcohol Active.
