Fil-Am doctors hold medical mission
SOME 1,000 residents of eastern Pangasinan were served by the medical and dental mission conducted by the Philippine Medical and Dental Society of Florida, USA from January 31 to February 4.
Led by the husband and wife team of Dr. Dalmacio Miranda Jr. and Dr. Ma. Luisa Braga Miranda, the mission was composed of some 100 Filipino-American doctors and nurses.
It was also a homecoming for Mr. Miranda, son of the late Tayug Vice Mayor Dalmacio Miranda Sr.
Tayug Mayor Carlos Trese Mapili welcomed the medical and dental mission during a short program at the town auditorium on January 31, thanking the doctors and nurses for sharing their talents and expertise for the benefit of the people of eastern Pangasinan.
In the five-day mission, they operated and treated patients at the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital (EPDH), the Tayug Family Hospital and the Tayug National High School.
Governor Amado Espino Jr. helped coordinate the activities of the mission.
The group also sent out smaller teams of doctors and nurses to treat patients in San Manuel, Asingan, Rosales, Sta. Maria, San Quintin, San Nicolas, Natividad, Umingan and Balungao.
Dr. Miranda said another mission will arrive next after following the success of their recent mission.
