LINGAYEN–Three bodies of a male and two females were found dumped in three separate areas in two towns last February 23.

The victims, all of whom remain unidentified, had strangulation marks and gunshot wounds.

Police Provincial Director Senior Superintendent Rosueto Ricaforte has ordered a thorough investigation of the slayings, which the police suspect could have been perpetrated by the same group of killers due to the similarity in the manner of killing.

According to Superintendent Paquito Navarete, deputy police provincial director for operations, the male victim, found at 6:30 a.m. in Barangay Asin East, Malasiqui, was slim, with fair complexion, sported long hair, and estimated to be in hjis mid-20s. Gunshot wounds were found on his right upper neck and right jaw with two linear strangulation marks around his neck.

The second body, a female of about 40 to 45 years old, was found at 6:35 a.m. near an irrigation canal in Barangay Matulong, Manaoag with one gunshot wound in the face and strangulation marks around her neck.

The second female victim was found in a rice field in Barangay Gueguesangen, Malasiqui at 7:00 a.m., about 15 to 19 years old, and had a gunshot wound on her left lower armpit and strangulation marks on her neck.

The police believe the slaying of the three are related and may have been perpetrated by the same group of suspects in just one place then dumped the bodies in separate areas to mislead investigators.

The police said it looked like they were killed at the same time.

These killings took place just two weeks after the police started to implement the new Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS), which involves stricter checkpoints, increased police visibility, and the serving of search warrants in the houses of suspected holders of loose firearms.

At the same time, the provincial police have a standing two-strike policy under which a police chief faces automatic relief from post if two crimes happen in his area of jurisdiction over a 30-day period and remains unsolved.—LM
