Ricaforte orders police chiefs’ reshuffle
LINGAYEN–Police chiefs in Pangasinan will be reshuffled starting the middle of the month on order of Police Provincial Director Rosueto Ricaforte.
Superintendent Geraldo Roxas, chief of the Police-Community Relations and spokesman of the Police Provincial Office, said the first to be reassigned are chiefs of police affected by the ‘two-strike policy’.
The ‘two-strike policy’ removes a police chief from his post if two shooting incidents take place in his area of jurisdiction and remain unresolved within a one-month period.
Roxas did not disclose the names of chiefs of police likely to be affected but there could be many if the number of recorded shooting incidents during the yuletide season, mostly perpetrated by armed men riding in tandem on motorcycles serves as a basis.
Another incident took place last week involving a schoolteacher from San Nicolas who was found dead with several gunshot wounds in her body under the Magallanes Bridge in Tayug.
The body of the victim, Rodelia Realisa, was found by a passerby in the early morning of January 3.
Roxas added that also among those to be reshuffled are police chiefs who have been on duty in their present assignment for at least two years.
Meanwhile, Roxas also announced that the nationwide one-strike policy imposed by the PNP in the campaign against jueteng is still in effect, meaning police chiefs where the illegal numbers game is found to be operating will be summarily replaced.
