Dagupan pays tribute to veterans

A program dubbed “War of our Fathers…A Tribute to the Filipino Freedom Fighters” will be staged in Dagupan City through the initiative and sponsorship of the Philippine Veterans Bank and the Veterans Federation of the Philippines in partnership with the city government.

The program will start with a school convocation to be participated in by veterans and old folks of the barangay together with Bonuan Gueset Elementary School, Gregorio Del Pilar Elementary School and North Central Elementary School.

A wreath laying will be held done simultaneously in two venues, namely Mac Arthur shrine in Bonuan Gueset to be led by the Barangay and the Sangguniang Kabataan officials and the the Gen. Douglas Mac Arthur Headquarters at the Home Economic Buildings of West Central Elementary School I to be led by Mayor Benjamin Lim.

A symposium on “Reexamining World War II in the Philippines” will be held at the BSL Hall, Dep-Ed compound, to be participated in by history teachers and high school students.

The resource speaker will be Dr. Ricardo Jose, a professor at the University of the Philippines, Department of History, specializing in military and diplomatic history.

Following the symposium is the dramatization of the Blue Beach landing at the Division Training Center to be portrayed by the students of the Dagupan City National High School will be held.
