LINGAYEN—To disabuse minds of the public about indiscriminate firing of guns by policemen before and during the New Year revelry, chiefs of police across the province directed the sealing of nozzles of the service firearms issued to personnel under their command beginning December 27.

The sealing of nozzle of firearms with masking tapes was ordered by Police Provincial Director Senior Superintendent Rosueto Ricaforte in compliance with the order of higher police authorities.

Their sealed firearms were inspected for signs of firing on January 1.

Ricaforte had warned that any policeman found to have violated the order will be charged if not dismissed from the service.

Superintendent Geraldo Roxas, police-community relations officer, said the police officers were told that their issued guns could only be used in extreme cases while maintaining peace and order on or before New Year.
