National chessfest set in Dagupan

THE 2010 National Inter-Cities and Municipalities Rapid Chess Team championship will be held December 18 and 19 at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome.

The nation’s chess celebrities representing their cities and municipalities are expected to participate in the two-day tourney, a joint project of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) and the Dagupan City government.

NCFP president Prospero “Butch” Pichay is expected to attend and make the ceremonial moves together with Dagupan Mayor Benjie Lim.

NCFP secretary general and Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino and Dagupan City administrator Vladimir Mata are expected to grace the event too.

The champion team will pocket a P70,000 prize, runner-up P50,000, and third placer P30,000. Individual winners from boards one to five will receive P2,000 each.

Registration fee is P3,500 for each team.–JAG, Jr.
