Lim orders closure of 37 delinquent shops
DAGUPAN Mayor Benjamin Lim has ordered the closure of 34 business establishments inside the Malimgas Public Market and Magsaysay Fish Section for non-renewal of their Mayor’s Permit and non-payment of their business tax to the city in violation of Section 117(a) of City Ordinance No. 1855-2005.
Three of the originally 37 listed delinquent establishments paid their dues to the city before the team of Licensing, Inspection and Examination Division (LIED) of the City Treasurer’s Office went to their respective establishments to implement the closure order of the mayor.
Bienvinido Bauzon, LIED division chief, said the city expects to generate at least P862,000 in added revenues once all delinquent taxpayers in the Malimgas and Magsaysay markets settle their obligations.
At presstime, the Dagupan City One Stop Shop Office said the city has already collected P245,464.19 from 12 taxpayers.
City Treasurer Romelita Alcantara said some of the delinquent taxpayers have not been complying with the provision of the city ordinance since 2008. (CIO)
