THE University of Luzon’s teacher education program has earned the prestige of being a Center of Excellence, considered as the highest possible recognition conferred by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Dr. Macarthur Samson Sr., UL president, said the entire university is proud of this achievement following the conferment of the award last November 5 in Manila.

“UL has always attracted more students to our teacher education program than anywhere else because we provide the best practical professional preparation for teaching in elementary and secondary schools, and is designed and delivered in partnership with many public and private schools within and outside Pangasinan,” he said.

This award complements the status of University of Luzon as a premier higher education institution in Northern Luzon and one of the best universities in the Philippines with a solid reputation for excellence in teaching and research, strong links with industry and an unrivalled sporting achievement, said Samson.

Aside from being a Center of Excellence in teacher education, UL is the country’s lone Center of Excellence in Criminology and holds the singular distinction as an autonomous university among all higher education institutions throughout Region 1.
