ABOUT 12,000 school children studying in Dagupan will converge at the CSI Stadia on November 16 and 17 for the city’s first Children’s Congress.

The event, chaired by Councilor Dada Reyna, is organized by the Sangguniang Panlungsod, along with the Department of Education (DepEd), and funded by private sponsors.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, who is spearheading the activity, said the Congress will be a forum venue for children, their parents and teachers to discuss issues and problems affecting them and propose measures to improve and ensure their welfare.

A Children’s Fair will also be staged for the participants where a variety of fun games will be staged and booths will be put up by the sponsors.

“This will be a wholesome family-oriented activity designed for children aged 17 years and below,” said Fernandez.

Fernandez clarified that the Congress is exclusive to children from Dagupan City and will not be open to the general public.

Fernandez earlier coordinated with City Schools Superintendent Alma Ruby Torio for the holding of the project, which if proven successful, will be held annually.
