INSPIRED by the success of his past sports projects in the province since 2007, 2nd District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil is sponsoring another cycling event on November 28 in conjunction with the celebration of the Bugallon town fiesta.
The bikefest, dubbed as “Siklista Laban Sa Droga, Tour de Segundo Distrito”, is in cooperation with the Bugallon Municipal Council headed by Mayor Rodrigo Orduna.
It will be participated in by well-known riders in the province headed by two former Tour champions, Arnel Quirimit and Santy Barnachea, 2009 Padyak Pinoy titlist Joel Calderon spearheading the Novo Ecijanos, plus cyclists from neighboring provinces like Tarlac, La Union and Zambales.
The contest will have a maximum of 60 participants.
“I believe that organizing sports competitions is the best way to develop my young constituents in their chosen sports career and above all to keep them away from illegal activities, particularly drugs,” he added
Cash prizes amounting to P40,000, trophies and medals are up for grabs, excluding the ‘summit’ prizes from Engr. Rodolfo Dion and Blandino Caguioa.
The race starts and ends across the municipal hall of Bugallon and the cyclists will traverse the second district of Pangasinan twice with an approximate distance of 158 kilometers.–JAGJr.
