SOME 100 boxers from the 31 barangays of Dagupan are seeing action in the lst Vice Mayor Belen T. Fernandez Cup 2010 (Inter-Barangay Amateur Boxing Tournament) slated Nov. 1, 12 and 26 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the CSI the City Mall Big Atrium.

Jerry Macaranas, ABAP referee-judge and tournament director, said the competition is sanctioned by the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP).

Participating in the tournament are young boxers from 13 to 14 years old who will compete in the 32, 34, 36, 38 and 40 kilograms weight categories and from 17 to 16 years old for the 45, 48, 51, 54 and 57 kilogram weight categories.

Winners in each weight category will receive P3,000 for the gold medalist,  P2,000 for silver, and P1,000 for bronze.

The team champion will receive P10,000; first runner up, P8,000; and second runner-up, P5,000.

Fernandez is the overall chairman of the tournament while Councilor Dada Reyna is the tournament coordinator.
