PRISAA regional meet set Oct. 27-30
THE Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Region 1 will hold its 21st Regional Meet on October 27-30 at the Marcos Sports Stadium in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte with about 1,000 athletes, coaches and officials representing seven provinces and divisions/chapters participating.
The athletes will be vying for top honors in 14 team and individual sports and events.
PRISAA regional executive director Philamer C. Celi announced that up for grabs are 900 gold, silver and bronze medals in the team and individual events, namely: basketball, sepak takraw in men division, softball in women, volleyball, athletics, badminton, chess, dance sports, karatedo, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, and taekwondo, all with boys and girls categories.
The first place winners will represent Region 1 in the national PRISAA Games scheduled in February next year in Cebu City.
Seasoned with light pomp and pageantry, the four-day sporting activity to be hosted by PRISAA Laoag City-Ilocos Norte Chapter, will be ushered in by the traditional athletic parade and opening ceremonies in the afternoon of October 27 at the city’s Centennial Arena with Ilocos Norte Provincial Governor Ma. Imelda “Imee” Romualdez Marcos as the occasion’s guest of honor and speaker.
Laoag City Mayor Michael Farinas will give the welcome greetings while CHED Region 1 Regional Director Caridad Abuan will deliver CHED’s message.
Virgen Milagrosa Foundation (VMUF) of Metro San Carlos PRISAA and the University of Luzon (UL) of Metro Dagupan PRISAA and 25 other member-institutions will be presented the Most Outstanding Achievement Award for emerging as the member-institution that garnered the first and second highest number of medals (gold, silver and bronze), respectively in the last past two PRISAA regional meets.- JAGJr.
