Preparations for Dagupan fiesta underway

IT’S all systems go for the preparations for the Dagupan City Fiesta 2010.

This year’s Hermano Mayor, Councilor Jesus Canto, has completed his organization that would direct and oversee the events lined up for this year’s celebration.

This year’s fiesta theme is “Our City, Our Shared Responsibility,” Mayor Benjamin Lim’s slogan to bring change to the city of Dagupan in the next three years.

A “Tiangge-and- Foodstrip” along Galvan and Zamora Streets will again usher in the celebration on December 1.

On December 15, a grand civic motorcade in the city’s downtown area and ceremonial lighting in the evening at the city plaza will signal the start of the fiesta proper celebration.

This year’s new events include Maagang Pamasko Para Sa Mga Bata at Isang Libo’t Isang Saya sa Batang Dagupeño and Pamaskong Pankalusugan ng Mga Dagupeño –Buhay, Sigla at Lakas will highlight two major advocacies of the Lim administration: child welfare and health.

Other events in the pipeline are: Musical Extravaganza by Foundation for Lay Education on Heart Diseases, Inc.;  Senior Citizen’s Night, Family Fun Run, Employees Night, Educator’s Night, Health Care Professional Night, Volunteer Workers Day, SK Night, Belen Making Contest in every barangay, Barangay Night, Dagupan City National High School Grand Alumni Homecoming, and Rotary Night.

Highlight of the celebration will be the coronation of the Miss Dagupan 2010 on December 26.  The city fiesta will culminate on Rizal Day Celebration.

Mayor Lim is the honorary chairman and Vice-Mayor Belen Fernandez, Honorary Vice-Chairman.

The chairmen of the different working committees are Canto, ways and means; Engr Marcelo Prado, physical arrangement; Police Superintendent Romeo M. Caramat Jr., peace and order; City Administrator Vladimir Mata, administrative support; Robert Erfe-Mejia, security and traffic; Dr. Leonard Carbonell, health; Behn Fer Hortaleza Jr., publicity; and Councilor Brian Lim, souvenir program.-(CIO)
