DEADLINE for the filing of applications for the 2011 Science and Technology Undergraduate Scholarships is set on October 8 and the exam will be administered on November 21.

The scholarships, given by the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute DOST-SEI, is open to students belonging to the top 5% of the graduating class of public or private high schools and intend to pursue priority fields of study in the sciences, mathematics and engineering.

The DOST-SEI scholars are entitled to tuition and other school fees payment; book allowance; PE or NSTP uniform allowance; free transportation for one economy-class round trip fare for those studying outside their home province; monthly living allowance; group health and accident insurance; and post-graduation clothing allowance.  Students who are required to take up subjects during the summer period will also be given their monthly living allowance, tuition and other school fees and book allowance.

Application forms can be obtained and filed at any DOST Regional or Provincial Office. Forms may also be downloaded at www.sei.dost.gov.ph and at www.region1.dost.gov.ph.
