LINGAYEN–An Internal Security Operation (ISO) Convergent Office will be set up at the Pangasinan Police Office, to be called “Ugnayan Center”, to improve the peace and order management in the province as well as the rest of Region 1.

The center will focus on collating data and serve as a communication center to speed up action and response time.

Governor Amado Espino Jr., who chairs the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC), said strengthening the peace and order program in the region is important in economic development, including the assurance of security to foreign investors.

In Pangasinan, Espino cited as example several foreign investors from South Korea and Taiwan have firmed up plans to invest in the province.

With Pangasinan having been declared as insurgency-free province, the delivery of basic services to the people even in the remotest barangays will no longer be delayed, the governor pointed out.

Meanwhile, Police Regional Director Orlando Mabutas said while Pangasinan has been declared insurgency-free, the police continue to be alert on for possible threats.

“Pangasinan is insurgency free but we are still intensifying the training of our people in intelligence as well as strengthening the relationship between the community and the policemen, especially Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams or BPATs, which are of big help to our force,” Mabutas said.

Mabutas also reminded local police chiefs to impose sanctions on whoever gives material or political support to the communist rebels, even as he urged them to prioritize the condition of their jurisdiction’s livelihood and other projects.
