LINGAYEN—Welcome, the “river marshals”.

In response to Governor Amado Espino Jr.’s call for the entire provincial police force to get involved in the ongoing province-wide river clean-up operation, the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office has activated the PNP river marshals who will support members of Task Force Kalikasan.

Task Force Kalikasan, composed of representatives from the provincial employees, police force, local government units, and barangay officials, is carrying out the clean-up program.

The marching order for the river marshals was issued during the “Environmental Advocacy Program for COPS (Chiefs of Police)” meeting at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) headquarters on September 23.

Codenamed “Oplan River Marshals,” the operation involves the posting of trained PNP personnel 24 hours daily in strategic areas to support the massive river clean-up drive of Task Force Kalikasan.

In the governor’s message delivered by Paterno Orduña, PDRRMC executive director, Espino expressed gratitude to the entire provincial police force for its support to the provincial government’s environmental advocacy program.

“The activation of ‘Oplan River Marshals’ is the PNP’s gift to the governor, whose environmental advocacy enabled Pangasinenses see the beauty of the rivers again,” PSSupt. Rosueto Ricaforte, police provincial director, said.
