Mutya ng Pangasinan is Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism Int’l

BARBARA “Barbie” Salvador, Pangasinan’s representative to this year’s Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant, came home with the crown as Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International.

Salvador, daughter of Drs. Raul and Bles Salvador from Pozorrubio, is a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University.

A telecast of the coronation night held August 28 will be aired tonight, 10 p.m, over ABS-CBN Channel 2.

The other winners were: Mutya ng Bicol Carla Lizardo, Mutya ng Pilipinas-Intercontinental; Cristi Lynn McGarry of the Filipino Community-East Coast USA, Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific; Suzette Hernandez of Batangas, first runner-up; Sharon Grace Angel of Lapu-lapu City, second runner-up.

National Pageant Committee Chair Tati Fortuna said the new management has introduced new concepts into the contest, including the promotion of some of the provinces in the country known for their beautiful tourist destinations.

“We are serious about elevating this pageant to the highest level. This is a huge task, and we are all very excited to implement new ideas for this project,” Fortuna said.

“We want to go back to its roots, focusing on the Filipina for her beauty, brain and as an ambassador of this beautiful country,” she added
