FOURTH District Rep. Gina de Venecia paid tribute to the Crusaders of the Divine Church of Christ Philippines, Inc. when she was the guest of honor in its 55th founding anniversary held at  Barangay Magliba, San Fabian last September 24.

“You have become Pangasinan’s goodwill ambassadors to the world,” she said.

The church has more than two hundred chapters here and in the United States, Korea, China, Italy, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The Crusaders was founded by Rufino Magliba, better known as Apo Rufing, in 1955. Since his death in 2008, the church leadership was transferred to his son, Narciso “Greg” Magliba.

De Venecia said Apo Rufing became a close ally and adviser of her husband, former Speaker Joe de Venecia when San Fabian became a part of the 4th District in 1987.

She also said that the life of Apo Rufing mirrored the aspirations of most Filipinos to hurdle life’s obstacles.

“From his humble beginning as a fisherman, Apo Rufing became a successful fisher of men,” she said.—LM
