Fabia to keynote climate change confab

PHILIPPINE Information Agency’s Director-General Jose Fabia, former mayor of Binmaley, will keynote a climate change convention, dubbed “Global Agenda,” at the People’s Astrodome in Dagupan City on October l and 2.

Officials of the government’s Climate Change Commission headed by Sec. Heherson Alvarez, Gov. Amado Espino Jr., and Dagupan Mayor Benjamin Lim will also address the convention.

Other speakers are officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources led by Director Elenida Basug who will talk on turning trash into cash; Malou Salumbides, “personal transformation”; and Youssef Velasco, presidential management staff, who will speak on “leadership volunteerism.”

The Pangasinan State University, one of the major institutions supporting the event, cited the need for a collective effort in helping stop activities that damage the environment.

PSU Campus Dean Merlita Santos said, “While we thank God for the period of safety and calm that we enjoy, we should always be alert to prevent disasters brought about by Nature’s Fury.”
