“Basura Ko, Sagot Ko” program launch on Sept. 30
THE Department of Education (DepEd) in partnership with the Dagupan City government is launching the “Basura Ko, Sagot Ko” program on September 30 at the People’s Astrodome.
The program aims to educate students on proper waste segregation, disposal and management in schools and in their communities as part of efforts to promote environmental protection.
Executive Assistant Deborah Beltran-Castillo of the city mayor’s office said the city government and DepEd will stage a contest dubbed as “Search for the Hero” (Huwarang Estudyante: Responsible sa Organisadong Pamayanan (individual category), and “Search for the Champion” (school category).
Criteria for judging is anchored on dissemination of information of the school, participation of organized and volunteer groups, implementation of action plans, waste segregation program in all classroom schools, recycling mechanism, waste disposal water sealed toilets, clean and potable water, absence of eyesores, absence of burning and dumping practices and presence of green and blooms like tree parks and bio-intensive garden.
Winners will be recognized on Educator’s Night during the city fiesta celebration in December.
Other activities include the implementation of “Panata sa Pagmamahal sa Kalikasan” in every school which will be recited during flag ceremonies, orientation-workshop on recycling of waste material, creation of modules for elementary and secondary schools for the integration of proper waste management, and fair and exhibits on recycled materials.
