CALASIAO, a town known for its puto product, will soon be the site of a Robinsons shopping mall.

Mayor Mark Roy Macanlalay, speaking during the Engkwentro forum of the Pangasinan Press Club Tuesday, said the Gokongwei company is now undertaking backfilling activities at a six-hectare site along the Calasiao diversion road.

Macanlalay said the town will benefit greatly about the entry of new investors into the town, which already hosts several car dealerships, fast food chains, and a government regional office.

But at the same time, he pointed out that Calasiao still needs a hospital and he said the local government is now talking with potential financiers for the project.

Kulang lang sa amin ay hospital. Kami’y kumakausap na sa mga interested parties na mag-put up ng kanilang facility sa amin,” he said.
