MANGALDAN–Fourth District Rep. Georgina De Venecia has promised to
complete the reconstruction of the public markets of Mangaldan and Manaoag
before the year-ends.

De Venecia said she is prioritizing the rebuilding of the markets, as these are the hubs of trade in the two towns, in line with her goal to prop up the economy in her district.

The new construction activity will start in October at a total cost of P35 million from her Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

Of the amount, P20 million is allotted for the construction of the Mangaldan market, which was razed to the ground last year.

The remaining P15 million will be spent for the reconstruction of the Manaoag market, which was also burned last April 20.

Aside from these projects, De Venecia is now laying the groundwork for a micro-financing program that will create business activities in the 140 barangays of the Fourth District.

Her daughter, former Department of Trade Undersecretary Carissa Cruz Evangelista, is helping her draft the final blueprint of the program.

AT THE HOUSE

Meanwhile, De Venecia, a first time representative, is also honing her skills in the House with her role as the new Assistant Majority Floor Leader.

As such, she is tasked to supervise plenary sessions and help the majority leader rally support for the administration’s priority legislations.

De Venecia is also the vice chairman of the committee on foreign affairs and the
committee on social services.
