LINGAYEN–Far Eastern University (FEU) beat defending champions De La Salle University-Dasmarinas to grab the third leg tiara of the 8^th Petron Ladies Beach Volleyball Tournament held at the sand court of the provincial capitol grounds here on August 14.

Shifting from indoor volleyball to beach volleyball due to a knee injury that almost forced her to quit the sport, spiker Shairah Gonzales, together with Shedd dela Pena, brought FEU to a hard earned victory in the first set, 22-20. But they turned anemic in the second set, succumbing 11-21. Then they came back with a vengeance using finesse shots in the third and final juncture, scoring a decisive 15-7 win.

The FEU team received the championship trophy with cash prizes from 2^nd District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil, the principal sponsor of the annual event.

Meanwhile, The DLSUD tandem of home-grown talent Jennifer Manzano from barangay Balangobong, Lingayen and Satchel Senupe also received cash prizes and trophy from Bataoil.

The win books Gonzales and De La Pena to Puerto Princesa to collide against the best in the country in the Battle of the Champions slated October.–JAG,Jr.
