FBI cites PNP for arrest of US fugitive
SEVENTEEN police officers were commended by the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation for the capture of Robert Nicol alias Bob on March 30 this year in Sitio Puntian, Barangay Sabali in Aurora province.
Among them was PSupt. Harris Fama, deputy provincial director for operation of the Pangasinan PNP.
The arrest was made through a joint operation of the Bureau of Immigration, Aurora and Pangasinan PNP.
Certificates of commendation signed by FBI Director Robert S Mueller III were given to the officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“For your dedication and contribution to a joint law enforcement operation carried out by your agency in cooperation with the FBI. Your skills, devotion to duty, and ability to work closely with other law enforcement officers were responsible for a significant part of the successes achieved in this priority investigation,” Mueller said in the commendation.
The other awardees were PSSupt Romulo Esteban, Provincial Director of Aurora PNP, PCinsp Nelson Buhong, SPO4 Julito Tangson, SPO1 Saturnino Donato, PO3 Ruel Sanchez, PO3 Ryan Mercado, PO2 Manolito D. Sindac, PO3 Leandro Maxion, PO2 Auster P. Bolima Jr., PO1 Macsam Felipe, PO3 Sonny Montes, PO2 Jessel Bagapuro, PO1 Alan Gutierrez, PO1 Romeo Tupil III, PO3 Rafael Duaso and PO1 Gilbert Delos Santos, all of Aurora PPO.
Nicol, 59, was involved in a business venture offering bogus rewards to American consumers.
An order of deportation against Nicol was issued by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) based on a Federal warrant of arrest issued by the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
The FBI tracked Nicol in Nueva Ecija, Baguio City, Pangasinan and Aurora.
