THE Dagupan City Water District (DCWD), alarmed over the rising cases of stolen water meters, is now offering cash reward for information that could lead to the arrest of thieves of water meters.

DCWD Manager Ramon Reyna said from June to present, there are already 38 recorded cases and more victimized households are coming forward to apply for new meters.

He said his office will pay a P20,000 cash reward for any information that could help identify and arrest the thieves,” Reyna said.

Reyna said the still unidentified suspects are committing the string of thefts, mostly in Barangays Tapuac and Malued, in broad daylight.

There have been sightings of the suspects, a team of three, using a blue-colored tricycle between 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. when people are taking their siesta but no witness has so far come forward with any information or description of the suspects.

He advised residents to protect their water meters by putting steel barricades or cement around the gadget. Installation of a new meter costs P2,200.

Water meters are made of brass reportedly sold for P200 per kilo.
