Senior citizens assured of stores’ full compliance
SENIOR citizens in Dagupan have been assured by Mayor Benjie Lim that they will enjoy the mandatory benefits and privileges they are entitled to under the new law.
“I will see to it that all business establishments shall be informed and monitored to ensure faithful compliance with the laws,” Lim told officers and members of the newly-reorganized Dagupan City chapter of the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (FSCAP) during their induction program held at the senior citizens center in A. B. Fernandez West.
Senior citizens are entitled to an exemption privilege from the 12% Value Added Tax (VAT) law, aside from the 20 percent discount on the utilization of public transport, restaurants, recreational facilities and places of culture, hotels and lodging establishments and purchase of medicines.
At the same time, Lim called on the elderly population to also help in the city’s development, stressing his call in his inaugural address that “the city is our shared responsibility”.
Inducted by Lim as the new Dagupan chapter FSCAP president was Atty. Cornelia Espańol, who succeeded former Vice Mayor and OIC – Mayor Felipe Siapno.
Other inducted FSCAP officers were Luz Geminiano, first vice president; Adelina Estrada, second vice president; Connie Fama, secretary; Emilliana Cruz; treasurer; Fely Daroy, auditor; Efiginia Corpuz, Demetria Parayno and Philip Maramba, press reslation officers and Rogelio Dulay, Elidio Ovedo, Rufina Peralta and Faustino Carvajal, business managers.
