Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton

LAST Wednesday, July 14, just a few hours after Ana “The Hurricane” arrived in the Philippines for a promotional tour, she immediately took a long ride back home — no, not back to the USA, but to Pozorrubio.

Another home to the World Boxing Organization (WBO), World Boxing Council (WBC) and International Boxing Association (IBA) super bantamweight world champion is Barangay Villegas in Pozorrubio, where her Dad, Cesario M. Julaton II, was a resident before he migrated to the USA. Generations of Julatons still live there, and Dad Cesario returns here on short visits now and then.

After dropping in at the Capitolyo of Lingayen for the traditional courtesy call on Governor Amado Espino Jr., Anna proceeded to the municipio of Pozorrubio where she was welcomed by her family and a crowd of proud Pozorrubians and fans led by Mayor Artemio Chan and members of the Sangguniang Bayan.

Ana’s trip home to Pangasinan and Pozorrubio was arranged and sponsored by GMA7.

Aside from a beautiful bouquet, the mayor and the local Sangguniang Bayan gave her a plaque and an SB resolution acknowledging her world-boxing achievements that lent honor to the town.–JingVillamil
