PRISAA-UCAAP cage tilt starts July 22
THE 2010 PRISAA-UCAAP Inter-Collegiate Basketball Championship starts on July 22 at Dagupan People’s Astrodome with 12 teams expected to participate in the games.
PRISAA Metro Dagupan president Art Tangco and the league’s executive director Seato Gonimil last week hosted a meeting of the organizing committee, coaches and referees.
“At least eight teams of universities and colleges have confirmed their participation spearheaded by the defending champion LNU, last year’s runner-up PUNP, UL, UPang, PAMMA, AIE, PIMSAT and Colegio de Dagupan,” Tangco said..
“We also already invited the teams of AMA and STI of Dagupan, Philippine Colleges of Science and Technology of Calasiao and the Urdaneta City College and University and I believe we’ll receive a confirmation from them soon,” Gonimil said.
“This will be a record of sorts if the four squads that we officially invited will give participate,” Gonimil added.
Angel Gumarang, the league commissioner, said a pool of referees from three well-known national arbiters, namely BARECOM, NARECOM AND NABRO, have been tapped to officiate the tourney which will last for two months.
The champion will represent Dagupan City in the Region 1 PRISAA meet in Laoag City slated last week of November. The regional champion will then be sent to Cebu City for the National PRISAA Games scheduled on February next year.
