Go for “go, grow, and glow” food, says PHO
NUTRITION MONTH CELEBRATION
IT’S Nutrition Month this July and the Provincial Health Office (PHO) is calling on everyone to go for “go, grow, and glow” food to avoid diseases.
PHO nutritionist Filomena Laroya said these types of food are those that help boost energy and contain the necessary proteins, vitamins and minerals that help prevent sickness.
Laroya reported that the malnourishment rate in the province has gone down to 4.91 percent for the month of January to March this year from 5.66 percent in the same period last year.
Laroya emphasized that proper nutrition should be observed by people of all ages, although she admitted that the PHO puts more focus on promoting the welfare of babies.
“Although we prioritize babies and infants in our nutrition drives, nutrition is not limited to them, it is for everyone,” Laroya said.
The PHO also campaigns for the “essential health care package”, which includes the 4Ps – pagsepilyo, paghugas, pagpurga at paggamit ng kubeta.
