7 houses razed in Tayug town
TAYUG–Seven houses were razed to the ground in a three-hour fire that broke out on the night of July 3 in Barangay A, located at the back of the Tayug public market.
No one was reported hurt in the blaze that broke out due to an unattended candlelight starting at 10:00 p.m. of Saturday and lasted until 1:00 a.m. of Sunday.
Initial investigation by the local Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) showed that the blaze started at the house of one Perfecto Laluan where a lit candle was left unattended.
The BFP said the occupants of the house might have gone out and forgot to blow out the candle.
All the seven burnt houses were made of light materials.
Firefighters from Sta. Maria and other adjacent towns had difficulty containing the blaze as only a small alley lead to the burnt houses.
The lone fire truck of Tayug was not used as it was under repair.—LM
